In ‘Abhisarika’, Anurekha explores the classical tradition of Kathak which is a sublime blend of Persian and North Indian artistry. The precise footwork, multiple pirouettes executed at lightning speed, sensitive and subtle mime, brilliant rhythmic improvisation between the dancer and the musicians, abstracting out complex rhythmic dialogue building to a crescendo and the rich melodies played on sitar, Sarangi and classical vocal music. Anurekha and her group's performance is an exciting and deep journey from 'stillness' into 'motion' from 'silence' into 'sound', yet they all share the same space.

An MA in Choreography & Performing Art from Middlesex University, UK, Anurekha has also learnt the art of Kalaripayattu at CVN Kalari, Kerala under Guruakkal C V Satyanarayanan. She has also taken extensive training in Western Contemporary Dance, Classical Ballet and Yoga. She is training in vocal singing from the maestro Swagatalakshmi Dasgupta. She has specialised in the Lucknow Gharana under Meera Majumdar, Mousumi Sen in Kolkata, Guru Pratap Pawar and Nahid Siddiqui in London.
