‘Jayate kuchipudi,’ the first-ever UK-Europe travelling Kuchipudi and folk dance festival presents the rich and diverse traditional, classical and folk art forms of Andhra Pradesh to heterogeneous audiences dispersed in Europe and the UK. Conceived by UKTA (United Kingdom Telugu Association), the festival is produced in collaboration with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR)/ The Nehru Centre, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, London, and other European partners. While the traditional Yakashagana operatic forms are performed by artists from the Natyaramam troupe, hailing from the traditional village of Kuchipudi, the classical solo and group performances are performed by well-known India based artists, Dr. Vanaja Uday, Dr, Maddali Usha Gayatri, and Dr. Shrikal Jwala. The renowned Vadeppally Srinivas Group performs ‘Janapada Sangeetham’ and folk songs from the state of Telangana. Curated by Dr. Avanthi Meduri, Reader in Dance and Performance Studies at University of Roehampton, London, the festival features seminars and workshops in its tour-de force tour of nine European countries.

The performance will feature excerpts from the larger UK-Europe Jayate Kuchipudi and Folk Dance festival. The concert will showcase ICCR empanelled artists who will present well-known numbers from the classical repertoire of Kuchipudi, contemporary classical and ensemble performance on Amaravati, the new capital of Andhra Pradesh and folk songs from the state of Telangana, among others.
