‘Kathakanjali’ is an offering of the artist to the Lord of Dance Natraj through the medium of one of the 8 Indian Classical Dance forms Kathak. It commences with praises sung in favour of the Lord followed by ‘Thaat’ or the stance that a dancer takes on stage with intricate movements of the neck, eyebrows, wristlets; ’Aamad’ or entry that depicts how the same ‘bol’ is interpreted through diff erent body movements characterising a man and a woman. Most interesting aspects of Kathak, the fast pirouettes, rhythmic patterns weaved through footwork will be presented through footwork.

Keka Sinha is a distinguished Kathak artist from Mumbai. She is a disciple of Guru Bandana Sen and Late Guru Reba Vidyarthi, direct disciples of the late renowned Pandit Shambhu Maharaj of Lucknow gharana. She has performed internationally and in India at prestigious festivals and has conceptualised and choreographed many signifi cant dance ballets. She is also a television artist, serves on the selection committee for the Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT) and an empanelled artiste of EZCC (East Zonal Cultural Centre). Keka imparts training to several aspiring dance artists and holds Lecture-Demonstrations on dance at prestigious colleges in Mumbai.

Keka will be presenting ‘Jugalbandi’ on live music. Th e London based artistes accompanying her are Th umri and Ghazal vocalist Prakriti Ganguli and Sachin Torne on drums.
