On the occasion of 200th birth anniversary of Maharshi Debendranath Tagore, there will be a presentation of a collection of devotional songs (Brahmasangeet) written by members of Tagore family. The songs will be presented through a series of narration and stories mainly depicting the contexts in which these songs were written. Our aim will be to acquaint the audience with these stories and the songs which are very uncommon in nature. While the composers from Tagore family will be highlighted, we will also present songs written by Raja Rammohan Roy, who is the pioneer of Brahmasangeet.

This programme is a result of extensive research on Brahmasangeet conducted by Mr Prasun Ganguly from India. He will be the key narrator on the evening. The songs will be sung by a small team of highly accomplished singers all based in London.
