‘Cartoon Selfie’ is Ashok Adepal’s unique way of presenting his thoughts/feelings/observations on present-day affairs. It is a potpourri of cartoons — sometimes amusing, sometimes grim — with Adepal as the central and the only character attempting to understand, explain and question socio-political incidents. Cartoon Selfie only relies on this singular character sans dialogue to make people realize and connect to ongoing events and issues. Each cartoon, however, has its own title. These cartoons, a hundred in all, cover mostly national and sometimes international subjects of discussion. This cartoon series is a unique experiment in itself.

Ashok Adepal, his career as a political cartoonist began 15 years ago. He trained himself to draw cartoons. His first cartoon appeared on the regional newspaper, Kutchmitra in 2002. Thus began the daily column Hi Pan Hikdi Gaal. His cartoons regularly appear in newspapers like DNA, Divyabhaskar (Rasrang) and Kutchmitra. In the past his cartoons/caricatures were also published in BBC Hindi (Portal), Phulchhab, Sambhav Metro, The Asian Age (Gujarat edition), Divya Bhaskar, Abhiyan, Chitralekha and Akila. He is also the initiator and editor of a laughter and satire magazine Vah Bhai Vah. Adepal has exhibited in cities like Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Bhuj, Mandvi, Gandhidham, Mumbai and Edison, USA.
