A collection of animated tribal folktales from the Northeast region of India, Tales of the Tribes series is produced by UK based charity, the Adivasi Arts Trust in partnership with indigenous artists and storytellers in India. Inspired by the tribal art of Nagaland, this six minute animation film tells of how once long ago, Spirit, Man and Tiger were three brothers but as they could not live together in harmony, they were separated.
The Secretary of the Trust and a PhD research scholar, Tara Douglas will give a presentation on the recent Animation Workshop in Manipur, to include the animation sequences made during the workshop followed by an open discussion on how digital media can be used to preserve indigenous cultural heritage. She is working out a new way of making animation films in India that engages indigenous artists in the preservation of their own culture. She will be joined by artists from the northeast region at this event.
