The event will have a special reference to ‘Rasa – emotive aesthetics ‘–the most important component of classical dance, followed by a demonstration of the core components of the 108 Karanas. The performance will include depicting ‘Shanta Rasa’ ‘Tripura’- the Divine Feminine’ and highlighting the concept of Rasadhvani through a snippet from the magnum opus – ‘ Karna –Destiny’s Child ‘- the Mahabharat . Components of Natya such as angaharas – sequence of dance movements and mandalas-groups of dance movements. Pandi Bhanda – group formation, rechakas – ornamentation in dance will be discussed.

Bala Devi Chandrashekar is a Bharatnatyam exponent and scholar, artist choreographer and committed teacher of Bharatnatyam . As a professor of Practice & Artistic Director of SPNAPA Academy of Performing Arts, Princeton, New Jersey she imparts valuable knowledge to her many dedicated students.
