About Nehru Centre

The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), an autonomous organisation affiliated to the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, runs 34 other cultural centres besides London, including in Berlin, Moscow, Johannesburg, Cairo and Colombo. These centres function as part of the diplomatic missions of the Government of India of those countries with the objective of serving as windows into the composite culture of India.

The Centre organises a wide range of cultural events on its premises, showcasing Indian music, dance and theatre, besides a range of activities aimed at strengthening and deepening the intellectual dialogue between the two

Director’s message

Welcome to our first season in the India-UK Year of Culture. As I mentioned here in our last brochure, this year will be celebrated both in India and the UK as the ‘Year of Culture’ to showcase India’s deep cultural ties with the UK and the 70th anniversary of India’s Independence.

During this year, we hope to bring some of the best names in Indian music, dance, theatre and literature to various cities in the UK. In addition to our regular programmes at the Nehru Centre, you will see us partnering with several events and organisations around UK as part of this effort. The calendar of events will be published at the end of February, so please check our website or subscribe to our mailing list/ FB ....
