Hemantika festival is SBDC’s annual event to celebrate the autumn colours and the vibrancy of the Classical Indian Dance in the UK. In its 10th year, under the overarching theme of leadership and intergenerationality, the festival will present the work of pioneering artists who first brought South Asian dance to England, and showcase experts and rising stars who follow in their footsteps. In collaboration with SAMPAD, Birmingham, SBDC will present an evening of informative and inspiring Kathak and Bharatanatyam by International and UK based artists.

Join us for a conversation and a lecture-demonstration with visual presentation, focusing on the development of South Asian dance over the past 40 years in the UK, with three of the most prominent leaders in the UK South Asian arts scene:

  • Sujata Banerjee MBE
  • The evening will also feature:

  • Kathak Performances by SBDC artists
  • Bharatanatyam performance by Sanskriti, UK based Bharatnatyam Dance Company, led by Shruti Sriram.
