Music: Rabindra Jayanti concert based on Tagore’s ‘Crisis in Civilisation’ speech

Please come and enjoy the celebration to commemorate the 164th birth anniversary of Kavi-Guru Rabindranath Tagore, the Bengali polymath and Nobel Laureate, who worked as a composer, writer, playwright, philosopher, social reformer, painter, and most significantly, a timeless poet for all of humanity. The presentation featuring songs, readings and recitations will be based on Rabindranath's last public speech, "The Crisis of Civilisation", delivered at the height of WW2.It is fascinating to see how much history repeats itself, and how even in the direst of catastrophes, he had hope for hum anity.

The presentation will be led by Anirudhya Kumar Ghoshal (Sasha), one of the most versatile and eminent performers in the field of music and theatre today, who runs a London based school of Tagore music, Robir Robibar. He and members of Robir Robibar, Atrayee Banerjee, Manoshi Barua, Suparna Chakraborty, Nalok Dutta, Sohini Ganguly, Krishnokoli Ghosh, Jyotsna Mukherjee, Indrani Purkayastha, Jayanta Ray and Sujoya Ray, will be accompanied on tabla and khol by Arunava Bardhan.
