Celebrating the 164th birth anniversary of Tagore, Dakshinayan brings a specially curated dance music operatic piece that focuses on a special aspect in the life and trajectory of the musical genius of Tagore. The beautiful River Padma which now falls in east Bengal or Bangladesh had a special significance in his life. It was as if a living organism that interacted with Tagore and when he lived and stayed for months on his houseboat on this river- his creative genius was at its peak. Gitanjali was penned when on this houseboat. The various shades and moods of this gigantic river cast and everlasting magic on his literary and musical works.
