Shared Values is a festival of music, contemporary, classical and traditional from the Indian subcontinent, that seeks to showcase the achievements of musicians from the around the world who have wholeheartedly adopted the aesthetic values of this music and emerged as accomplished performers.

Hriday Buddhdev is a contemplative and deeply rooted Canadian sarod and tabla artist, named one of CBC Music's top 30 classical musicians under 30. He continues advanced training under Grammy-nominated Ustad Alam Khan and the esteemed Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri at the Ali Akbar College of Music in California, a lifelong relationship of learning, belonging and celebration that carries forward the revered Maihar gharana lineage. His path to the sarod was shaped by the late Dr. Thomas Hunter, Sanskrit lecturer at UBC and direct disciple of Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, and by David Trassoff, one of the few craftsmen trained in the tradition of Maihar sarod lutherie, who oversaw the making of the very sarod Hriday plays today. A three-time recipient of AACM's Advanced Instrumental Scholarship, Hriday has performed across Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom, and has appeared for three consecutive years at the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra's Day of Music. Hriday’s heritage reflects a rich transnational lineage, with family roots in Gujarat, Kenya, and the United Kingdom. This will be Hriday’s debut concert at the Nehru Centre. Himmet Bahra - Tabla
