SAMARPAN is a traditional Odissi dance recital celebrating the Guru-Shishya Parampara (teacher-disciple tradition). Led by Vidushi Kavita Dwibedi and her disciple Shilpi Dhara, the performance embodies the student's complete surrender to the guru's lifelong guidance as well as a total surrenderness towards the Almighty.
The evening features a classic Odissi repertory, beginning with Mangalacharan, an invocation to Lord Shiva, followed by Pallavi, a pure dance piece brought to life through movements inspired by Odisha's temple sculptures. The centerpiece of the recital is a dramatic Abhinaya depicting the powerful myth of Goddess Tulsi (Sati Brindavati). This expressive piece portrays the Goddess cursing Lord Vishnu for his transgression, ultimately sealing her sanctity and establishing her eternal worship.
