Dr. Bhavna Rao is a Bharatanatyam artiste from Chennai and a disciple of Sri. Renjith Babu and Smt. Vijna Vasudevan of Saraswatham Foundation. She began her training under Kalaimamani Smt. K. J. Sarasa and has continued here artistic journey under eminent gurus over the years. A recipient of the Natya Kala Ratna award, Bhavna has performed extensively at renowned Sabhas, temples and cultural festivals across India, including the Madras Music Academy, Naada Neerajanam (Tirupati), the G20 Summit cultural programme and festivals presented by the Ministry of Culture and the Government of Tamilnadu. Alongside her career as a Dental Surgeon, she remains deeply committed to preserving and presenting the rich traditions of Bharatantyam.
Rooted in the timeless traditions of Bharatanatyam, this repertoire explores the devotional and aesthetic dimensions of Indian Classical literature through the twin rasas of Bhakti and Shringara. Drawing inspiration from the divine manifestations of Lord Ganesha, Devi, Vishnu and Shiva, the performance celebrates their grace, strength and compassion through expressive storytelling and intricate movement vocabulary. With a Margam that places special emphasis on Abhinaya and Bhava, the recital seeks to create an intimate connection between poetry, music and dance, inviting audience into an immersive experience of devotion, emotion and spiritual reflection.
