Exhibition: Handwoven India: The Living Silk and Cotton Traditions

Handwoven India: The Living Silk and Cotton Traditions is a two-day exhibition presented by ArtNHer London, celebrating India's rich heritage of handloom textiles and traditional craftsmanship. ArtNHer London is co-led by Ihitashri Shandilya and Skinder Hundal MBE, former Global Director of Arts at the British Council, bringing together complementary expertise in women-led enterprise, international cultural leadership, creative entrepreneurship and commercial partnerships. Its mission is to promote authentic Indian arts, crafts and textiles while creating creative and economic opportunities in the UK. Showcasing exquisite handwoven silks, cottons, embroideries, hand-block printing and Madhubani painting, the exhibition reinterprets India's rich textile heritage through contemporary fashion, accessories and sustainable design.

Visitors will experience a curated journey through India's diverse textile traditions, complemented by storytelling and insights into the craftsmanship behind Kantha, Phulkari, Ajrakh, Bagh printing, Madhubani painting and India's celebrated silk traditions. The exhibition brings together heritage, contemporary design and cultural exchange, offering UK audiences, the Indian diaspora, museums, designers and cultural professionals an engaging encounter with India's living handloom traditions and their continuing relevance in today's world.
