Krishna Leela: Tales of the Divine is a Bharatanatyam production by Nandini Jayakumar celebrating the timeless stories and enchanting facets of Lord Krishna - his innocence, playfulness, courage, compassion, and divine charm. Through iconic episodes from Krishna’s life, this group production explores the emotions of love, devotion, longing, and joy through expressive storytelling, intricate choreography, and the rich vocabulary of Bharatanatyam. From the playful world of Vrindavan with the gopikas to moments of valour, Krishna Leela presents a celebration of Krishna’s eternal appeal and the many emotions his stories evoke.
The production is choreographed and presented by Nandini Jayakumar, an acclaimed young Bharatanatyam dancer and choreographer with over 20 years of experience in the art form. Hailed as a “Rising Star” by Press, she has presented over 400 performances across 30+ cities worldwide at prestigious venues and festivals in India and abroad. Her artistic work spans traditional and contemporary platforms, including choreographing to diverse genres of music and international collaborations with leading global artists and orchestras. Nandini is also an actor and the youngest host of Jaya TV’s renowned classical dance programme Thaka Dimi Thaka Jonu. Alongside her artistic career, she is a PhD researcher on AI in healthcare at the University of Cambridge.
The production features supporting dancers Prakriti Parasarthy, Likhitha Surapaneni, Aarthi Edulakanti, and Monisha Murugan, who have trained under Nandini Jayakumar.
