Ustad Fida Hussain was born Gujranwala, Punjab, 1938 and came to the UK as a singer / musicians in 1960.

He learnt from Ustad Jhandai Khan Sahib in Calcutta. At the age of eight he performed in the theatre with his father, Ustad Sadiq Khan and Grandfather Ustad Nawab Khan, who were theatre actors and singers based in Calcutta and travelled around India.

Fida ji played Lord Krishna in the play Bilwa Mangal when around 11 years of age.

Soon thereafter he learnt from Ustad Barkat Ali khan of the Patiala Gharana and Ustad All Rakha Khan also of the Patiala/Punjab Gharana.

He is a versatile composer, singer and harmonium player. He possesses a vast repertoire of raga knowledge and compositions.

He was given the title of Ambassador of Patiala Gharana by Ustad Fateh Ali Khan, Khyalia of the Gharana.

He has accompanied the likes of Roshan Ara Begum, Ustad Mian Qadir Baksh, and Ustad Salamat Ali Khan and Ustad Fateh Ali Khan and Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan, Laxshmi Shankar and Rajan and Sajan Mishra.
