“Bharatanrityam” is a unique style that is a confluence of Marga technique of Natyasastra and Desi technique of the South India - Bharatanatyam. It represents a revival of Indian ancient dance principles creating a style that is both historically authentic and artistically innovative. This was developed and popularised by Guru Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam who through her research revived & reconstructed the 108 Karanas. An evening of Bharatanrityam will feature the linear angularity of Bharatanatyam ’s adavus along with the graceful, serpentine movements, aerial leaps, and spins of the Karanas interwoven through stories.
