Vidushi. Soumya Rupanagudi, daughter of Smt. Janaki and Sri Vijay Kumar R, was introduced to the world of Bharatanatyam at the tender age of 7. Soumya has been learning and practicing this sacred art under the guidance of Guru Smt. Suma Nagesh, director of Natyashree school of dance. She has performed in several productions of ‘Natyashree’ and represented the art form at ‘Nadaneeranjanam’ TTD-Tirumala, DD Chandana to name a few. She has also received a senior level Scholarship by Karnataka Sangeetha Nritya Academy, Govt. of Karnataka in addition to successfully completing the cultural examinations conducted by the Karnataka Secondary Education and Examination Board up to Vidhwat level.
Hrudaya Tarangam is an exploration into the diverse shades and moods of love in Bharathanatyam. It is a meticulously curated medley featuring the Ashta Nayikas (the eight types of heroines in love)—such as the yearning Virahotkanthita and the enraged Khandita—juxtaposed with the innocence of nascent love. The recital features legendary compositions, where the core essence of Bhakti Sringara is presented in the form of a traditional Margam. Through intricate Abhinaya (expressive dance) and the luminous rhythm of Nritta, the recital brings these heroines to life. The journey begins with a short, poetic yet playful invocation, followed by a grand Poorvikalyani Varnam, leading to a poignant Padam and a joyful Javali. Join us as we witness the heart’s journey, flowing through joy, pain, and ultimate surrender.
