Born and raised in the Western World, Navya Maitri reveres Bharatanatyam not only as the vocabulary through which she may discover and delve into her Indian roots but also as the ever-relevant medium through which she may navigate the ever-changing landscape of global society. Anpēṣaṇa therefore is an exploration of the universal constants of human experience.

Architected in a traditional margam format that features a kaleidoscope of characters, emotions, languages, melodies, and rhythms, Anpēṣaṇa invites audience members to journey alongside the dancer, to engage with these nuanced, well-loved compositions, reflecting on their significance as it relates personally, societally, and beyond.

Navya Maitri Konda initially trained in Bharatanatyam under Smt. Deepa Mahadevan and currently trains under Smt. Shweta Prachande. She has taken solo and group masterclasses in abhinaya from Smt. Priyadarsini Govind, including being a featured student in Govind’s abhinaya modules, Learning Ladder.

She is a UNESCO CID Member; she has performed across 6 countries and at the United Nations General Assembly and received commendation in reviews by Marina Harss (dance critic for New York Times & New Yorker) and Eva Moon (contributor to Huffington Post). She holds a Bharatanatyam Certificate from Alagappa Arts University and a bachelor’s degree from Stanford University
