Priya Amit Kumar is a disciple of Guru Vidushi Urmila Sharma and Pt. Jai Kishan Maharaj Ji. Priya completed her Kathak Praveen and Prabhakar from Prayag Sangeet Samiti and earned her Kathak Visharad from Bhatkhande Sangeet Vidyapeeth. Priya has won numerous Kathak competitions, including those organized by the Sangeet Natak Academy. She is a gold medallist in the All-India Kathak Exam of Praveen. She has performed at many prestigious venues in India, the UK, and internationally. For the past eight years, Priya has been nurturing the art of Kathak through her institute in the UK, where she imparts pure Kathak training to students aged 5 to 65. Her dedication to preserving and promoting Kathak has made her a respected figure in the dance community.
Kathak Ke Aayam is a mesmerizing event that beautifully unfolds the various dimensions of Kathak, presented by the talented students of Vishwam Kathak Kendra. The event will commence with an invocation (Vandana), seamlessly transitioning into intricate technical pieces performed in Teentaal, Jhaptal, Dhamar Taal, and Ashtmangal.
The evening will then take you through a captivating journey with a harmonious blend of classical styles, including Gazal, Thumri, Dadra, and Tarana. In addition, the performers will enthral the audience with semi-classical songs and a poignant dance drama depicting the divine narrative of Govardhan Leela.
The performers will be accompanied by the skilful live musicians: Hanif Khan on tabla, Prayag Kotecha on flute, and Priya Amit Kumar on Padhant, ensuring a richly immersive and unforgettable experience.
