Khalil Alashar from Bahrain will present an evening of mesmerizing and fresh choreographies in this classical form of dance from Northern India, Kathak.
Khalil is the first and only Bahraini professional Kathak dancer giving classes at his school Tatkaar School of Kathak, workshops, and performances worldwide.
He is a student of Smt. Prachi Dixit from Los Angeles, USA. Khalil also trains exclusively with Guru Murali Mohan Kalvakalva from India and has completed his Master of Arts in Kathak at Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University, Pune, India.
Khalil will present a traditional Kathak repertoire with some of the finest and elegant choreographies highlighting the nuances of Kathak and ending the second half of his performance with depicting abhinaya (the art of storytelling) through the two different traditions that affected the development of Kathak, the temple and darbār traditions.
