Rahul Mishra, a Hindustani Classical vocalist, belongs to two of the most respected families of Benaras Gharana tradition of music. His paternal grandfather was Late Pt. Baijnath Prasad Mishra of the Benaras Gharana of Sarangi and maternal grandfather was Late Pt. Sharda Sahai (Direct descendant of Pt. Ram Sahai the founder of Banaras style of tabla playing). He is the son of Pt. Triloki Nath Mishra and 'Gandabandh Shishya' (senior most Disciple) of the Legendary Padmavibhushan Girija Devi herself a disciple of his great grandfather, Late Pt. Sarju Prasad Mishra. Rahul is professionally trained in most of the forms of Vocal Hindustani Classical, that are typical of the Benaras Gharana, including: Khayal,Thumri,Tappa,Dadra,chaiti,kajri,Hori,Bhajan etc. He also holds a Praveen Degree from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad, and, has been an Awardee for ‘Excellence in Vocal Music’ from Rotary club (Kolkata) and ‘Sur Mani’ from Sur Singar Samsad-Mumbai.

Rahul is also a National Scholarship holder from Ministry of Culture and Visiting Vocal Classical Faculty in PRSSF Varanasi.

In 2014, he collaborated on a fusion album showcasing his style of Hindustani Vocal Classical music with a U.S. Based singer/songwriter, Itida, in an album titled, 'Des-Pardes' released by Hungama music, in which Rahul Mishra has also been involved as a Music Composer. He then became the Co-founder of the Band called 'Des-Pardes' with Itida, a collaboration concept based Band, which works with artists of various backgrounds from all over the world, to bring Benaras Gharana Classical/Indian Sufi & Folk and the music of the West together, through fusion.

The Band is the first international fusion band to be the part of Legendary Music composer A.R Rehman's music company called "Qyuki", and has performed in various parts of India, receiving great appreciation by all.

Rahul Mishra is working towards a goal that his grandfather Pt.Sharda Sahai started, 'Each one, Teach one!' through which he gives Free music education to the people who can't afford to learn music and have a bright future and also by educating foreign artists the combination of Indian classical and Western music similarity and growth together.
