Himanshu Nanda is an internationally accomplished Hindustani Classical Flautist and a passionate and dedicated Educator. Himanshu Nanda was fortunate to learn under the tutelage of Padma Vibhushan Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia ji, the legendary flute maestro under whose guidance spanning thirteen years, he trained in the finest nuances of the Maihar Gharana on Bansuri.

He had the great fortune of receiving a student scholarship and being one of the first students to live and learn at Pandit Ji’s Vrindavan Gurukul in Mumbai, an incredible experience that transformed his entire perception of Hindustani Classical Music and brought him closer to silence, the source of all music. He had the privilege of accompanying Panditji on many prestigious occasions across India. He has also performed extensively across India and abroad.

He is also the founder-director of The Mystic Bamboo Academy and Mystic Bamboo Foundation which aims to promote and nurture Hindustani Classical Music enthusiasts. He also served as Director of Music in Chinmaya Naada Bindu, a Chinmaya Mission-established Gurukul for Indian Performing Arts, located at Kolwan, Pune; a visiting faculty for music at lIT Bombay; and was the founding member of Chinmaya Swaranjali, the music-centred offshoot of the global Chinmaya Mission.

He has many prestigious awards to his name including the “Sur Mani” title conferred by Mumbai’s Sur Singar Samsad. Himanshu Nanda humbly strives to carry forward his guru’s tradition of uplifting listeners to a higher plane of consciousness by meaningfully emphasising “silence” through music.
