Sharmistha Guha is a London based Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist who hails from Delhi. She commenced her musical training at age four receiving Hindustani Vocal training from Pandit Awasthi from Allahabad Gharana. She also trained in semi – classical and light vocal music and was an All-India Radio Delhi singer for 8 years.

She has religiously maintained her musical interests and considers it her second profession. From 2014 Sharmistha has trained in Hindustani Classical Music under the eminent guidance of Pandit Chiranjeeb Chakraborty. She has performed in concerts in India and the UK and has released her first single in 2019– Bengali modern song. Sharmistha is due to release another solo song by Saregamapa.

This concert is part of the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists (RCOG) Global Health Initiative and is a tribute to the many women from India & around the World who have selflessly served society and have succeeded in making a real difference against all the odds.

Their journey with its many challenges and various emotions are portrayed in the songs sung by Sharmistha interspersed with the poetry recited by Dr Ranee Thakar who is currently the President of the RCOG and Dr Gregory Ward who is a senior fellow of the RCOG and Past Head of School for London School of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

This musical and poetic evening is a tribute to women who want to pursue their dreams.
