Born in a musically talented family, Satarupa Ghosh is an accomplished Hindustani classical vocalist of Kirana Gharana. Her areas of expertise include khayals and semi-classical genres like thumri, dadra, kajris, and bhajans.
Satarupa has trained since the tender age of four. She has trained under the able guidance of several maestros in India and the UK such as Vidushi Mandira Lahiri, Smt Gouri Chowdhury, a senior disciple of Pt A Kanan, and currently from Vidushi Chandra Chakraborty in the UK. She is a ganda-bandh shagird of Smt Chandra Chakraborty and performs under the banner of Kalakar Arts UK, in solo concerts as well as acting and singing in several musicals like Akhtari- the musical, based on the life of legendary Ghazal queen Begum Akhtar.
Satarupa regularly performs in several concerts in India and UK, pa. Satarupa also teaches Hindustani classical music at her residence.
Aniruddha Mukherjee and Amith Dey will accompany her on tabla and harmonium respectively.
