The voice behind hit songs like Nadia (with Nitin Sawhney), Khwaab (with Niraj Chag) & Jakatta American Dream (#3 in UK main charts), Swati Natekar is a UK based renowned Indian Classical, Ghazal and World music singer, songwriter, and composer, who is also known for her collaborations with Ustad Zakir Hussain, Craig Armstrong, Talvin Singh, Sonu Nigam & Muzaffer Ali. Swati has released several acclaimed albums and has performed internationally at reputed international venues. Swati has represented U.K. for the Bapu@150 celebration.
After last year’s successful U.K. National tour of her live concerts “Nazrānā” which was graciously funded by the Arts Council of England, Swati Natekar returns with her brand new concept for this year’s live performances called “Raag-Rang” - Shades of Ragas, a thematic concept of a live performance, based upon Indian Raags. Various Indian genres like some selective beautiful Raag based Bollywood songs and popular Ghazals will be presented, followed by a Classical Bandish (composition) or Thumri from the Raag it is based upon. With the highly talented U.K. based musicians, the similarity of the notes in both genres will be presented live. While Bollywood is extremely popular amongst the general audience, additionally having Classical Raags on board will be enjoyed by Classical Music lovers and will be educative for many.
