A generally accepted fact in Eastern Philosophy is that Mathematics and Astronomy, in addition to other technical fields, were derived from Vedic texts. In the Vedas, especially Atharva Veda, there are sixteen sutras (formulae) and thirteen sub-sutras (sub-formulae) which illustrate a simple, yet powerful, method of performing calculations that is quick and error-free. Unfortunately, this treasure was left unexplored until as recent as the 18th to 19th Century when Swami Bharati Krishna Tirthaji rediscovered and extracted these “sutras” or “threads” along with other methods and techniques that form the basis of the subject of Vedic Mathematics.

In this talk, Dr Shrey Pathak will introduce the audience to this ancient science, speaking about its origins, and how this forgotten branch is easier, faster, and less prone to error than conventional methods. Furthermore, there will be an open discussion on techniques used of Vedic Mathematics that not only enable one to solve specific mathematical problems but also develop ones creative, and logical thought process. More importantly, Vedic Mathematics has been shown to improve memory and mental alertness and given its consistency and purity of history, Vedic Mathematics is known to create a stress-free and enjoyable environment.

This talk will showcase, how one can be a coherent thinker whilst being at peace with innovative and disruptive technologies.
