Mathangi Keshavan, is a third generation Bharatanatyam artist having learnt from her mother Guru Gayathri Keshavan and grandparents Late T.K. Narayan and Late Jayalakshmi Narayan. Her grandparents were the direct disciples of the revered Gurus Meenakshisundaram Pillai and Muthukumara Pillai and founded the ‘Academy of Bharatanatyam’ in the year 1948.

With a Masters in Fine Arts, Mathangi has an experience of over 25years performing, teaching and choreographing in India and abroad. Mathangi has also trained in Kathak under Smt. Sankhya Gopal, a senior disciple of Guru Maya Rao based in Bangalore for 5 years and is currently receiving advanced training from Guru Urja Desai in London.

Along with strong roots in the Classical form, Mathangi has explored Contemporary dance through a summer workshop at Martha Graham in NY and several performances as a freelancer with Nritarutya in India.

Whilst in London since September 2015, Mathangi has had the wonderful opportunity to feature in the ‘LondonIsOpen’ campaign for the Mayor of London and has been delighted to work with various establishments such as Akademi, Natyasri of Guru Geetha Sridhar, Pagrav of Guru Urja Desai among others.

Mathangi will present a traditional repertoire showcasing some of the timeless pieces in the Pandanallur style of Bharatanatayam.
