Swati Natekar, daughter and disciple of renowned Hindustani Classical academic & scholar Dr. Sushila Pohankar, is a UK based Indian Classical, Thumri, Ghazal and World music singer, songwriter and composer.
Swati is well known for her collaborations with artists like Nitin Sawhney, Ustad Zakir Hussain, Sonu Nigam, Talvin Singh, Craig Armstrong, Muzaffer Ali and many more. She has released several acclaimed albums and has performed at reputed international venues. She also sang on the theme song for Commonwealth Games in Delhi in 2010, specially recorded for BBC.
Recently Swati recorded, composed and sung a track from the famous ”Geet Govind” couplet for the Queen’s gallery at Buckingham Palace, London. It has also been an honour for Swati to represent UK & record the Bhajan “Vaishnav Jan” for the celebration of 150th year of Gandhi Jayanti.
This concert will comprise of various singing styles of Hindustani music, right from Classical bandish, Thumri-Dadra, Ghazal & Bhajan. As we are currently celebrating Gandhiji’s 150th birth year, the Bhajan section will be dedicated to Bapu by singing some of his favourite Bhajans.
