An enchanting evening unfolds with a grand celebration of the works world and life of Rabindranath Tagore. To mark the 157th Birth Anniversary of the bard the evening will bring live music dance poetry with a multimedia presentation. We essentially focus on three aspects of his work and relationship. Paying tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his 150 years birth anniversary the event will talk about his eternal and very fruitful links with Tagore and his musical journey. The way both touched each other’s lives and carved a niche for themselves on the path of India’s journey towards freedom.

Standing today on the crossroads and watershed of self-identity and patriotism we mark the 100 years of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre , this event caused a huge turmoil in Tagore’s life and works which led to him renouncing his Knighthood.

The evening will also include Tagore’s immortal opera Shyama which celebrates its 80th year of creation. This dance opera is based on the Buddhist tale Mahavastuabasan and explores the emotional nuances in the lives of Buddha and Yashodhara (his wife) depicted as Shyama and Vajrasena

Participating artists include Pandit Biplab Mondal and Pt Subrata Mukherjee with Diptangshu and Gargi.
