Dance, Music & Storytelling: Cultural Showcase
The Odisha Day Cultural Showcase, titled Odisha Parba – Think India, Think Odisha, presents the state as a microcosm of India’s cultural essence. Rooted in the timeless legacy of the Konark Sun Temple and the spiritual ethos of Jagannath culture, the programme opens with Raja Parba, celebrating feminine energy, creation, and the rhythms of nature—values deeply embedded in Indian tradition. Through an introduction to Odissi, including its temple origins, sculptural Tribhangi, and expressive storytelling, the showcase reflects the classical depth that defines India’s artistic heritage.
Marking the birth centenary of legendary Odissi guru Kelucharan Mohapatra, the performance segment features Mangalacharan and Maarga as tributes to his enduring legacy. The journey continues through Odisha’s vibrant folk traditions, including Sambalpuri and regional dances, alongside visual and musical storytelling through Bagha Nacha, Patachitra, and Odia song. With fusion elements, interactive engagement, and a grand ensemble finale, the programme captures both continuity and innovation—positioning Odisha as a lens through which audiences can experience the quintessential spirit of India.
