Dance: Nritya Arpan
Bipasha is a dedicated Indian Classical dancer with over three decades of Kathak training in India and the UK, blending the unique styles of the Lucknow and Jaipur Gharanas. Joining her are her talented students, Agrita Dandreyal, a Programmes Officer in global environmental conservation, and Lata Limbu, a medical practitioner and GP.
The presentation unfolds in two parts. The first part begins with a soulful group dance to the Krishna bhajan “Kasturi Tilakam,” a masterpiece by Padmabibhushan Pt. Birju Maharaj. This is followed by the enchanting group performance of “Nachata Sudhanga,” based on the Krishna Astapadi written by 16th-century poet Surdas, and choreographed by Padamashri Guru Rani Karnaa. The rhythm intensifies as Agrita and Lata perform Nritta in Teental, incorporating intricate forms such as That, Toda, Chakradar, Paran, and more, choreographed by Guru Sohini Debnath.
In the second half, Bipasha showcases a solo paramparik Nritta performance in the ancient Aprachalit taal Raas, composed by Mahamahopadhyay Padmashri Dr. Puru Dadheech. She brings to life the heroic tales of Lord Rama and Ravana through Nayak vedas compositions choreographed by herself. The performance culminates in a vibrant group Tarana in Teental and Raag Desh, celebrating the rhythm and emotional depth of Kathak’s rich cultural heritage.
