Exhibition: Manual Focus
Aayushi Patel a visual media creator, focussed on film production and photography creates di-verse art and poignant stories through visual and written mediums. After honing her storytelling skills at Walt Disney and sweeping numerous nominations at renowned film festivals in India and the UK for her riveting films she pledges that peace is just around the corner if we choose to look at it.
Ayushi proposes to portray through photographic memoirs some of the most prominently beauti-ful cities of India, highlighting a poetic depiction of the culture and heritage that these cities still preserve today. Albeit in a modern world that often tends to leave behind the awe of living in the moment and sets their Auto Focus to things that would suffice humanity as more important, therefore giving leverage to daily activities like going to your job, working, etc, this compelling photographic artwork reminds us to take a step back and set our Manual Focus to more beautiful and meaningful perspectives like human philosophy. Through photographs of spiritual abodes of ashes in Varanasi, the busy perfumiers of Lucknow, the colony where people function without money as a currency in Pondicherry, the flower market of Mumbai, the untrampled beaches of Gokarna, the archaeological site of the ruined and cursed empire at Hampi, Chikmagalur where Baba Budan planted the first coffee plant in India and built a cave for salvation, the city consid-ered a final destination of the soul for billions in Hinduism called Rameshwaram, the captivating land end at Dhanushkodi where Bay Of Bengal, the Arabian Sea collide leaving only a spec of land where you can stand and many more, the artist would like to portray the reverence of beauty of India.
