Born and raised in Bahrain, Khalil Alashar exhibited a natural gift for Kathak. A disciple of Prachi Dixit, he started his training in Los Angeles. He had the privilege to perform throughout the world, honourably invited by eminent artists and institutions. Khalil has also completed Sangeet Prabhakar from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, and Sangeet Visharad from Pracheen Kala Kendra. By following his guru’s dream of teaching, performing, and spreading the beautiful art form of Kathak, Khalil has been able to lead classes and workshops worldwide.

Khalil Alashar was recently conferred upon the prestigious International Nritya Shiromani Award at the 7th Cuttack Mahotsav in Orissa. He has also had the honour of performing before India’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sushma Swaraj, during her honourable visit to Bahrain. He works closely with the duo Maulik Shah & Ishira Parikh from Ahmedabad and Abhimanyu & Vidha Lal from New Delhi.

Khalil will display a traditional sequence of a Kathak presentation beginning with an invocation to Lord Ganesh.
