Sanjukta Mitra’s musical journey in North Indian classical music began at a very young age of 8 years under the guidance of Mrs Seema Ghosh, in Kolkata. She completed her graduation in Sangeet Prabhavar, from Allahabad at the age of 16, with a distinction and started training under the eminent Guru, Pt. Santanu Bandyopadhyay of Vishnupur Gharana. Under his guidance, she learnt several different techniques of beautification of Raags, exclusively pertinent to the only Bengal Gharana in India. In 2001, she completed Sangeet Visharad, from Chandigarh, with a gold medal, and stood first from the eastern part of India.
Sanjukta has performed in different parts of India, UK and Europe and also has been involved in training young people.
One of her other important role is with Surbahar an organisation which promotes Indian Classical Music in the eastern part of the UK.
