One of the leading Odissi dancers in North America, Enakshi, residing in Toronto now, cultivated a lifelong devotion to Indian Classical dance starting with Bharatnatyam followed by Odissi dance. She learnt this subtle form from Guru Sharmila Biswas, Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra & Guru Ratikanta Mohapatra. Her active performance career spans for the last 17 years that includes performing in major festivals of India, Europe & North America. One of her recent performances was at the backdrop of Taj Mahal at Taj Mahotsav, 2018. Enakshi also had the honour to perform during the visit of Indian Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi in Toronto.She is an empanelled artist of ICCR, Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre and Sangeet Natak Academy.

Enakshi has had numerous achievements and awards. To list just a few of them

  • 2017 - Recipient of Women Achiever Award from Dancing Damsels organization.
  • 2017/ 2011 - Jury for Ontario Arts Council for Dance Initiative program.
  • 2014 - Jury for Ontario Arts Council for Chalmers Professional program.
  • 2014 -International Nritya Shiromoni Award from Orissa, India.
  • 2011/2010 - Project Leader for South Asian Centre of Windsor funded by Ontario Trillium Foundation.
  • 2010 - Access and Career Development grant from Ontario Arts Council.
  • 1999 - Shingar Mani title from Sur Shringar Academy in Mumbai, India.

At present Enakshi is the Artistic Director of her dance institution 'Mrudanga Dance Academy’, involved in the training of dancers in Toronto, and Windsor.
