Get Direction

Gurbaksh Matharu is a wonderful Indian classical musician acclaimed for his playing of various bowed instruments – the Tarshehnai, Esraj and Dilruba. Gurbaksh is also a vocal exponent of the traditional Gurbani music – sacred songs. Gurbaksh’s virtuosic playing is known for his seamless intertwines of the sarod and vocal repertoire styles taught to him by his mentors. Whilst integrating many sarod style techniques, he has developed his own unique dynamic style of playing the Tarshehnai and singing.

He has contributed immensely towards the repertoire and technique of the Tarshehnai and is working on several contemporary and traditional music projects. Gurbaksh gave his first solo recital at the age of 11 in 1992. In 2001, he was invited by Ustad Zakir Hussain to open the first memorial concert for Ustad Alla Rakha in England. He has performed with many artistes such as Talvin Singh, Pandit Sanju Sahai, Ustad Sukhwinder Singh to name few.

Pali Singh began his musical journey from a young age learning from various respected teachers. His tabla practise reached new heights when he began his learning from his highly esteemed teacher Ustad Surdarshan Singh Ji. This has been ongoing for the last ten years and with his blessings and teachings Pali continues forward on his musical journey.
