Music: Sur Bandheehi – A tribute to Hemanta Mukherjee & Salil Choudhury

A musical presentation in memory of Legendary singer and composer Hemanta Mukherjee and Legendary composer and lyricist Salil Choudhury.

Soumyen Adhikari will sing songs sung by Hemanta Mukherjee composed by Salil Chowdhury.

Soumyen was born to a family devoted to music, he was initiated into music by his father Late Golok Nath Adhikari, an unsung hero. He learnt Rabindra Sangeet and Bengali Modern Songs from Shymal Chatterjee, Chitta Priya Mukherjee, Prabir Majumdar, and many more. He has been awarded many prestigious accolades including “Hemanta Smriti Puruskar” in 1991, and “Uttam Kumar Award” in 1994. He was recently honoured by the Darpan Cultural Society at the British Parliament for promoting Bengali music in the UK. As a performer, he has travelled extensively in India and abroad. He was invited to sing at the “Bango Sanskritik Sammelan” in Liverpool in 2003 and at other venues in the USA, Canada, Germany, Sweden, Belgium, and Singapore. BBC, Akashbani Film, Houston Bangla Radio, Doordarshan and other satellite channels often broadcast his performances.
