Urmi Chakraborty is a vocalist performing in multiple genres ranging from traditional Indian classical music, semi - classical, evergreen film classics to folk.

During her formative years in India ever since the age of four, she has trained in Indian Semi-classical and Pure classical genres from her father and some of the eminent musicians. She is immensely fortunate to receive her “taalim” presently under the renowned stalwart vocalists Sri Anol Chatterjee and Sri Brajeswar Mukherjee who are the foremost disciples of the legendary maestro Pt. Ajoy Chakraborty. She has also taken guidance in Hindustani classical music from Sri Chiranjib Chakraborty and Pt. Omkar Dadarkar, Guru of The Sangeet Research Academy, India.

She has performed at All India Radio in various genres. For the past decade, Urmi has been in London. While continuing with her musical journey, she has won numerous accolades for her versatile singing style. She has also recorded for television both in India and here in the U.K. She has been performing in the UK at various prestigious venues like The Royal Festival Hall, Cadogan Hall, Mountbatten Hall of Bhavans, The Harrow Arts Centre, The Nehru Centre to name a few. Urmi has received invitations from The High Commission of India to perform in multiple private solo concerts arranged for top dignitaries, diplomats, musicians, and music and film directors. She says, she would not have been able to tread the beautiful journey with music without the immense support of her husband and of course the constant support and blessings of her God like parents and Gurus.
