lyengar Yoga postures are precise, guided by experienced teachers trained to make appropriate adjustments for different physiques and include people with any problems. Poses (asana) involve intense stretching to create lighter and calmer feelings during and after practice.

Immediate benefits are greater flexibility and strength, and better physical health.

As you continue practicing, psychological and spiritual benefits appear and overall vitality is enhanced.

Iyengar yoga is named after Yogacharya Sri B.K.S. Iyengar, who evolved precise posture (Asana) and breathing (Pranayama) techniques with a firm philosophical base in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.

Iyengar yoga helps you focus on correct alignment of the body, ensuring you’re working safely and with maximum benefit to your flexibility, strength and wellbeing. Classes generally progress from simple towards more advanced poses, ending with relaxation and sometimes incorporating breathing techniques. Props, such as blocks and belts, are sometimes used in class to allow those with less strength or flexibility to work correctly and achieve their full potential. Lisa Morris has been teaching Iyengar yoga full time for 20 years.
